Local
Company Provides Unique Service
A
group of retired health professionals have opened a one-of-a-kind
local business in Georgetown, Ky. which will provide trained nurses
to go with people to the doctor's office. In addition to accompanying
patients on trips to the doctor, the nurses will answer questions,
review and explain medical records and assist with billing and
insurance problems. This is the only service of its kind in
Kentucky.
The
owners are a former director of the state agency responsible for the
regulation of health care facilities and two Registered Nurses each with a long
and varied background both as health care providers and regulators.
Other agency staff includes nurses who want to share
their experience and expertise to assist others. During the owner's
years of experience dealing with health care issues, they saw many
patients who were overwhelmed with the health care "maze.”
After retirement, they decided to assist these patients navigate the
often confusing health care system and act as advocates for patients
to help ensure they receive appropriate health care.
Many
baby boomers are torn between making a living, caring for their
children and caring for their elderly parents. In these cases,
Sentinel Group provides a nurse who will evaluate the parent and
recommend what needs to be done to see that the parent receives
the best possible health care. The nurse will be the patient's personal
advocate and will provide one-to-one expert advice and assistance in
all matters relating to health care. Sentinel Group offers free
consultation visits for prospective clients.
Their
office is located in downtown Georgetown and free parking is
available.
